School: Cathedral and John Connon School
Camp K-12 is proud to announce its student of the week Alaiza Irani, an 8th class student of Cathedral and John Connon School. This young girl is a bundle of talent and is truly an inspiration to all those young girls out there. From being an ace graphic and web designer to mastering the skills of dance, music and drama, to participating and winning sports competitions, this girl has done it all with grace. She calls herself a kinesthetic learner and combines action and intellect to learn new things. You can call her a beacon of creativity with a curious mind to learn more.

How her interest in Technology evolved?
She was introduced to computers at the age of 4, her initial use of computers was mainly restricted to research for academic purposes, watching videos and movies, and downloading songs. Gradually she started exploring things on computers and generated an interest in technology, she was fascinated by the website designs and graphics. She says, “Attending camps of Camp K-12 helped me to broaden my understanding of what technology had to offer. This piqued my interest in technology.” Her journey with Camp K-12 made technology her best friend.
And now, she likes experimenting with a variety of tools on the computer to make web layouts on diverse topics such as One Direction, Big Bazaar, and a fictional band, among others. She also loves exploring animation tools.
Her experience at Camp K-12?
Alaiza was part of the Web and graphic designing course and has completed all levels. She learnt about the different software’s used like Photoshop and coding using HTML. She says “The instructors made sure they brought out the best in us. Moreover, they ensured there was constant joy and laughter, accompanied by learning”. Instructors made them practice public speaking in every class which enabled her to hone her skill and gain oodles of confidence. Proudly she says, “I was fortunate to be allowed to help others with learning Photoshop and Html which helped me develop teaching skills, such as demonstrations and explanations and I eventually gained a reputation for being a strict teacher who manages to get results.” bursting out into laughter.
Also being our student ambassador from Cathedral school she managed to show her excellent leadership skills and passion for technology.

Her top achievements
- She made a mark in the sports field by winning many medals in sports competitions like Bombay District athletic association competition, competitions of District school of Mumbai and inter school basketball championships. Recently she bagged the bronze in the Under-17 Shot-put event with her name being published in the daily newspaper.
- She scored a distinction in all her exams in Speech & Drama from The Trinity School of London.
- She has performed in many dance and acting shows and flaunted her ballet, cha cha cha, jive, ballroom dancing and hip hop skills. She acted as the lead role in the Wizard of Oz play and also participated in ballet shows conducted by Royal school of London showing her creative talent.
Her future plans
She is a dynamic and multi-talented girl. She says, “I am considering career options such as singing, computer engineering or graphic designing. Sooner or later, I will choose something that I will excel in and bring me creative satisfaction.” She feels personal satisfaction is the most important ingredient of success and greatest source of happiness in one’s life.
Her views on starting young in technology
She says, “I tell my friends that we must begin learning about the world of technology at a young age as it will help us manage our personal and professional lives better. Knowing how to use Power Point, MS Excel, Photoshop and other such computer tools and software’s help us communicate better with the people we work with and enhance our skills which becomes our habit. Such skills help set a good base for better career performance.”
